A Charter Starter Kit (found onboard) includes:

The following items will be placed onboard prior to your charter

-toilet paper

-paper towel

-bottle of dishwashing soap

-bottle of handsoap

-box of matches

-1 pkt of handwipes

-1 box of garbage bags

-1 bottle of mineral water (1.5L)

-1 small bag of ice

* Request of specific items will be delivered at charge

Is there a fishing license required?

Yes. To fish out of the Bras d’Or Lakes you must hold a valid fishing license.

There is cell phone service on most parts of the lake.

Are pets allowed?

We apologize but pets are not permitted on the boat

Is smoking allowed on board?

Smoking is not permitted in cabins or on the deck. Smoking is only permitted on the back steps of the vessel.

Will I get sea sickness?

It is suggested you bring Gravol or sea sickness medication which can be purchased at any pharmacy

Is fuel included?

The boat will come with a full tank of gas and is asked to be filled on return

Do I need a license to captain the vessel bareboat/Am I qualified to “skipper”?

Depending on your experience with this type of boating or boating at all it will be recommended that you hire a skipper. Capable boaters will be allowed to captain the boat. A crew member will join you and your friends/family the first day for a safety briefing and to insure you are comfortable with sailing the boat.

Can we bring children?

Of course people of all ages are welcome aboard. Children are recommended to wear a life jacket when out on the foredeck.

How do I request food allergies?

To best accommodate any catered meals we ask you advise us at least 5-7 days prior to arrival.

What are the dining options/What will the food be like?

If you wish to prepare your own meals we can help with sourcing the freshest of food around the Island and retrieve groceries from local markets or grocery store. We have a few different options for catered meals depending on preference and price range. We try to support local markets and suppliers as much as possible.

Can I get a captain and cook?

Yes, there is a captain available. Catered food is available prepared by a local farm to fork company.

Will I need insurance?

Only for customers looking to Bare Boat or charter overnight will require collateral insurance.

Where is the closest airport?

The closest airport is located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, approximately 1 hour drive from our catamaran boarding area. Halifax International Airport is the next closest, approximately 3.5 hour drive, and is also used as a stop over to Sydney. Both Sydney and Halifax fly with Air Canada and West Jet directly from Toronto. A private airport is located in Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton Island, which is approx a 45 minute drive.
